| Relay For Life Sponsors
Needed |
|
We invite you to join
the Cape Coral community in the continuing battle against
cancer as a 2008 Sponsor for the American Cancer Society's
Relay for Life. This event will provide an effective way for
you to reach your market while helping create awareness about
cancer.
May we count on your
corporate support this year? Over the last six (6) years, with
the help of our sponsors and the community, the Cape Coral
Relay raised
$ 1,092,316.00 for the fight against
cancer.
The American Cancer
Society conducts Relay for Life throughout the United States.
Six years ago Relay for Life became the country's biggest
single fundraising event. Relay for Life is not just about
raising dollars: the aspect of community, survivorship and
caring is a combination unique to the American Cancer
Society.
This year's event will
be held at Mariner High School on April 4&5, 2008. The
theme is "Movie Magic". Cancer survivors are invited to
begin the Relay by walking the Survivor's Lap. Then members of
the teams take the track throughout the entire 18 hours. A
Luminary Ceremony is held where candles are lit in remembrance
of those who have lost their battle with cancer and in honor
of survivors.
Please look over the
enclosed materials by clicking here.
We
are looking to finalize our sponsorship commitments by
December 31, 2007. If you wish to contact us, please call
936-1113, ext. 113. |

What is
the organization of a ship? First see the
organizational chart.
Basically, the ship is run and organized by the Sea
Scouts with the overall guidance and assistance of the Cape
Coral Power Squadron.
The Power Squadron has appointed a "ship's committee"
that provides this guidance and assistance to the Sea Scout's
skipper. The
skipper is the key officer of the Sea Scouts Ship. The skipper provides
advise and direction to the Boatswain and the Sea Scouts who
actually plan and conduct the program.
When will
we meet Depending on the
Sea Scouts availability, the current plan is to meet on the
1st and 3rd Monday of every month from
7-9 PM.
Parents:
We encourage
parents to join the Power Squadron, participate in the
Boat Smart course, interact with the Sea Scouting initiative
and to participate in the Power Squadron educational and
social activities.

Reinvention
Mike "Q"
Quaintance, President
Would you agree that to each of us words have different
meanings?
Reinvention in the dictionary means to remake or make
over, in a different form. It almost always seems
that the Chamber of Commerce of Cape Coral is always going
through those changes in order to best meet the needs of our
members for which we exist. For example, the Men's
Power Networking, which has its d¨¦but on March 6, 2008, or the
ChamberCertificate.com program which revitalizes our old
member-to-member discount program and expose discount offers
and new clients opportunities to our existing community,
visitors and re-locators at ZERO cost to the members that
participate.
Your Chamber Board of
Directors is extremely cognizant of customer service and the
need to continually improve the "Value Statement" in order to
continue to earn your investment. Most of these Chamber
leaders are constantly reinventing themselves in their own
businesses.
Our Advanced Leadership
program which starts this April has a whole day on the subject
of reinvention.
We know that if we desire to continue to serve our
customers, clients or constituency then we must continually
make changes. How
we determine what changes to make is the critical and most
difficult part.
One of my Professors at Barry University probably sums
it up the best, "Shut up and LISTEN!" The people we serve
know what they need to make them happy and successful, we just
need to listen, not defend, not argue, but listen and ask
questions.
Experience tells me that it is a really difficult
exercise, but worth it.
It's like to a 360 degree performance evaluation on
your whole business organization and your team gets to
evaluate you.
When is the last time you took the time to listen to
your customers, clients or constituency?
If you'd like to learn
more about reinvention, perhaps you should consider enrolling
in the Chamber of Commerce of Cape Coral Advanced Leadership
program. This is
but one topic that you will learn to master. For more information
please call Mike Quaintance, President at 549-6900 ext #106 or
Don Schnell, Chairman of Advanced Leadership 2008 at
482-0596.
