Foundation Host Generational Diversity

Florida Gulf Coast University Continuing Education and the
Southwest Florida Leadership Foundation collaborate to present
"The Generational Imperative: Bridging the Generation Gaps in
the Workplace and Community," 8:30 a.m. to noon, Friday, May 9
at the Three Oaks Banquet and Conference Center in Estero. The
presentation will be delivered by Chuck Underwood, founder and
president of The Generational Imperative.
The Generational
Imperative is a research-driven generational consultancy.
Underwood works with organizations nationwide and explains the
influence of generational values on the American population's
consumer, career and lifestyle decisions. He recently
published a book titled, "The Generational Imperative:
Understanding Generational Differences in the Workplace,
Marketplace and Living Room."
Underwood has addressed
these topics with recognizable corporations such as Proctor
and Gamble, Macy's, and the Coca-Cola Company. He has also
recently produced and hosted two national television specials
on public TV stations due to broadcast later this year.
Consulting coast to coast, he also authors columns,
guest-lectures at universities, and is regularly quoted in
news stories by NBC Nightly News, National Public Radio,
Fortune, BusinessWeek, and many major market
newspapers.
Participants in the
workshop will learn about the four generations, "Silents,
Boomers, Generation X, and Millenials, and what motivates each
specific generation in the workplace. The workshop will help
participants discover how to get the best of each generation
and create a thriving workplace with these diverse
generations.
Registration for the
workshop is $65 for members in the Chamber of Commerce in
Southwest Florida and $75 for non-members. The cost for FGCU
faculty and staff is $40 with appropriate ID, students $30;
and $80 to register at the door day of
event.

| Leadership Applications Are Now Available
Leadership Cape Coral
is a proactive
thirteen (13) week series of forums, seminars, and field trips
that have been custom designed to explore the many challenges
and opportunities facing the community leaders of tomorrow.
Under the
direction of the Chamber of Commerce of Cape Coral, Leadership Cape
Coral has been formed to develop year after
year a pool of leaders that share a common knowledge and
vision for the City of Cape Coral.
This intensive
hands-on program begins with a mandatory kick-off retreat over
two (2) days, Friday, August 15 and Saturday, August 16 and
runs each Thursday, culminating with a gala graduation
celebration on November 14.
Our programs will be held at various
locations throughout the city and county and the participants
will share many experiences. Program days are scheduled with
learning experiences and business contacts that will last a
lifetime.

Sheriff Mike Scott Supports The Boys And Girls
Clubs Of Lee County
Summer Enrichment Program Community
Appeal
Fort Myers,
Florida (April 23rd,
2008). Sheriff Mike Scott is encouraging the Citizens and
businesses of Lee County to support the Boys and Girls Clubs
of Lee County Summer Enrichment program.
The Boys & Girls
Clubs Summer Enrichment Program offers children, ages six to
fourteen years old and many that reside in single-parent/low
income households, an opportunity to attend the program all
summer, Monday - Friday. The cost to sponsor a child is $100.
This $100 tax
deductable donation will help one child attend 10 weeks of fun
and learning; along with providing a safe, positive place that
will have a significant, impact on their lives. The youth will
interact, and be supervised by caring, trained, professional
staff. They will receive a nutritional lunch, afternoon snack
and drinks.
Program activities from
Boys & Girls Clubs America's five core areas: Education
& Career Development; The Arts; Health & Life Skills;
Character & Leadership and Sports, Fitness, and recreation
will be offered weekly to all participants.
A recent study
conducted by Florida TaxWatch Research Institute estimated
that the positive economic impact of the Boys and Girls Clubs

the summer at home unsupervised and give them the opportunity
