FGCU Continuing Education and Southwest Florida Leadership Foundation Host Generational Diversity Expert

FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University Continuing Education and the Southwest Florida Leadership Foundation collaborate to present "The Generational Imperative: Bridging the Generation Gaps in the Workplace and Community," 8:30 a.m. to noon, Friday, May 9 at the Three Oaks Banquet and Conference Center in Estero. The presentation will be delivered by Chuck Underwood, founder and president of The Generational Imperative.

The Generational Imperative is a research-driven generational consultancy. Underwood works with organizations nationwide and explains the influence of generational values on the American population's consumer, career and lifestyle decisions. He recently published a book titled, "The Generational Imperative: Understanding Generational Differences in the Workplace, Marketplace and Living Room."

Underwood has addressed these topics with recognizable corporations such as Proctor and Gamble, Macy's, and the Coca-Cola Company. He has also recently produced and hosted two national television specials on public TV stations due to broadcast later this year. Consulting coast to coast, he also authors columns, guest-lectures at universities, and is regularly quoted in news stories by NBC Nightly News, National Public Radio, Fortune, BusinessWeek, and many major market newspapers.

Participants in the workshop will learn about the four generations, "Silents, Boomers, Generation X, and Millenials, and what motivates each specific generation in the workplace. The workshop will help participants discover how to get the best of each generation and create a thriving workplace with these diverse generations.

Registration for the workshop is $65 for members in the Chamber of Commerce in Southwest Florida and $75 for non-members. The cost for FGCU faculty and staff is $40 with appropriate ID, students $30; and $80 to register at the door day of event.

Sheriff Mike Scott Supports The Boys And Girls Clubs Of Lee County

Summer Enrichment Program Community Appeal

Fort Myers, Florida (April 23rd, 2008). Sheriff Mike Scott is encouraging the Citizens and businesses of Lee County to support the Boys and Girls Clubs of Lee County Summer Enrichment program.

The Boys & Girls Clubs Summer Enrichment Program offers children, ages six to fourteen years old and many that reside in single-parent/low income households, an opportunity to attend the program all summer, Monday - Friday. The cost to sponsor a child is $100.

This $100 tax deductable donation will help one child attend 10 weeks of fun and learning; along with providing a safe, positive place that will have a significant, impact on their lives. The youth will interact, and be supervised by caring, trained, professional staff. They will receive a nutritional lunch, afternoon snack and drinks.

Program activities from Boys & Girls Clubs America's five core areas: Education & Career Development; The Arts; Health & Life Skills; Character & Leadership and Sports, Fitness, and recreation will be offered weekly to all participants.

A recent study conducted by Florida TaxWatch Research Institute estimated that the positive economic impact of the Boys and Girls Clubs for the state of Florida is in excess of $200 million Visit www.FloridaTaxWatch.org  for information.

A $100 donation from members of our community can keep a child from spending the summer at home unsupervised and give them the opportunity to learn, and grow to become productive, active and caring members of this community.

Donations should be sent to: Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County/Summer Appeal 8359 Beacon Blvd. Suite #402, Fort Myers, FL  33907.
