Public Affairs Committee

Mission
To influence the development of policies
and regulations that aid in the creating of regional opportunities for job
creation, business growth and financial success and the creation of new
market links and opportunities for Chamber members.
Vision
We are the premier advocate for our
members regarding the Business Community, Economic Committee Liaison Report
for Cape Coral City Council, Lee County Commission, Local State Delegation
and Southwest Florida Congressional candidates.
What We Do
The Public Affairs Committee is the
Chamber of Commerce of Cape Coral’s legislative program, whose volunteer
members examines, analyze and monitor relevant legislation of the
governmental bodies. We monitor
economic and regional issues of local and state governments that could have
an impact on the business community.
The committee maintains a continuing dialogue with elected and
appointed government officials from the city and the county, as well as
various quasi-judicial agencies.
Our overall focus is on supporting legislation and activities that benefit
the economic development and overall quality of life in Florida and, in
particular, Cape Coral and Lee County.
The committee meets monthly to talk about issues of interest and if action
is warranted, gives recommendations to the chamber’s board of directors.
After the board adopts a position or policy, the Public Affairs
Committee participates in disseminating the information to the membership
and begins discussions with or presents positions to the appropriate
officials. All chamber members
are encouraged to bring their ideas or concerns about economic development
in our region to any member of the committee.
