FICTITIOUS NAME

 

A sole proprietorship or partnership will have to perform a "fictitious name registration". You can call or visit their website to see is that name is already in use. Fictitious name registration costs $50 and has to be re-registered after five years. Fictitious names must be advertised in a local newspaper at least one time. The local newspapers are the Cape Coral Daily Breeze and the News Press both papers have the forms necessary for fictitious name registration as well as costs associated with the advertisement.
